17 Months

I have many drafts that I haven't published but I wanted to write a quick update about my Lo.

I can't believe she has been with us for almost a year and a half...time has flown by! I don't remember life without her. She has been the sweetest blessing to our little family and is the apple of our eye.  Lo is definitely coming into her toddlerhood and leaving her babyhood behind. She is walking with more and more confidence every day. She is jabbering like crazy repeating random things that we say. She tries to give commands to the Bluetooth in the car now and will tell it to "call wobet" for her Daddy. The other day her Daddy said "oh my gosh" and she repeated "oh gosh". Those are some of the funnier ones of late but there are many more.

She is currently teething, but what else is new! I don't know how many more teeth she has left to cut but I'll be thrilled when it's over. She's not bad with it, but tends to drool, have a runny nose and gets diaper rash. The process of teething seems to be slow and steady for her, it took ages to get her molars thru! She is getting her two teeth beside the front teeth.

She definitely has the mind of an engineer...I can always see the wheels turning in her head just like her Daddy. She loves to stack blocks, she loves to see what she can fit inside of random objects. For instance, she tries to put miscellaneous small objects inside of an Easter egg and gradually the objects get larger and larger until the egg won't shut...testing the limits!

She adores her cousins and loves to FaceTime them several times a week. She loves to play around with my iPhone and knows how to turn on music, the PBS kids app and talk to Siri. She is still a bookworm and will spend hours sitting and faux reading books. The gutter bookshelves that her Daddy made for her room before she was born were definitely an inspired choice. She continues to love being outside in any way, shape or form and loves water. We have had a ridiculous amount of rain this summer and she loves to get out in it and puts her hands out to catch the rain drops.

She has become increasingly more attached to her blankets that Mimi made her that are silky on one side and minky on the other...they are referred to as her soft soft cozy and she can't get enough of them. When it's time for a nap or bedtime we say "do you want soft soft cozy?" And she will excitedly walk back to her bedroom.

She blows kisses on command, waves hi and bye (she waves differently for hi and bye) and says "bye bye". She has the softest curly blonde hair and has already had 2 hair cuts in her 17 months of life. She loves puppies (pup pup) and kitty kats (kee kat). She loves going on walks in her stroller. She loves the nursery at the gym.

Okay, in going to end there because I tend to get carried away with these update. I could go on and on about our little sunshine.

Rocking her tiara.
E and Lo enjoying bubbles and the outdoors.
Melts my heart!
A bath with Daddy in Mimi and Pappy's Jacuzzi tub.
The day she found a stuffed kitty in the store and begged for it.
New clothes from Gramma and Papa D
She's becoming  more independent-dipping French toast into syrup
Up bright and early, checking out the neighborhood.
First time with pigtails.

Lo at 14 months

I thought I would write down a couple of things while I was thinking about it. At 14 months out pretty girl-

-Has her two front teeth, one top molar on her right side, her bottom 4 front teeth and right bottom molar. She's been a teething champ this month with 4 of those coming in at the same time.

-Is giving us a glance into toddlerhood. Like her newfound love of playing in the toilet water or throwing random objects in the toilet, gross!

-Loves water in all forms- bath time, watering the garden, washing her hands in the sink, the fountain at the gym.  Nobody will take a bath or shower during her waking hours in peace unless she is in there too! I even find her in the bathroom trying to climb in the tub without water.

-Her grandpa died a few weeks ago and since that day she (completely on her own) has become attached to a pink bunny that her grandpa sent her for Easter. She was having issues sleeping around the same time and when I went in to see why she was upset she was at the side of her crib pointing to the bunny that was in her doll cradle. Once I gave it to her she went right to sleep and has slept with it ever since.

-Is a total Daddy's girl. We left her with my parents last weekend to go out of town and when we came home she crawled right past me to get to her one true love...Dada. She cries every time he leaves and that includes just leaving the room.  She has even started saying his real name sometimes because she hears it when we call him in the car using our hands free option.

-Has had some of the worst pooping incidents these past few weeks. Blame it on the teething mixed with us moving her up (apparently prematurely) to the next size diapers and you've got the perfect storm! Doozies including, but not limited to, pooping- I her car seat and getting it all over her seat, toys, snacks, binkys and herself. Pooping in the car and it getting all over her and myself on the way in to the gym one morning causing us to leave as soon as we got there, pooping in her crib during nap time and fingerprinting her bedding/crib. I have learned that there is no way to prepare for such events but I have recently put an emergency stash of clothing for myself in the car, extra outfit for her in the bag, and extra diapers/wipes in each vehicle.

-Contjnues to say words like once or twice and never say them again- juice, milk, Bobert for Robert, yogurt,
Helping Daddy exercise!

Hubby and Lo tending their garden
It flourished until the rain came and never went away during the summer!
Pretty in Pink
Always has polished toenails...my girly girl.
Fun at Mimi and Pappy's house.
Cousin love.
Nugget's very first haircut. She was more wiggly than I expected and I ended up in the tub with her...fully dressed.

Lo's First Birthday

It seems like just yesterday that we were leaving for the hospital on the first day of spring.  Just a few short hours later Lo was delivered via a scheduled c-section and she was the most beautiful baby I had ever laid eyes on.  She has changed our world completely and we wouldn't have it any other way.  On her actual birthday we let her have a cupcake and then she opened presents from us and her Grandpa S.

Our 1 Year Old

I can't believe our first year with our girl flew by so fast. We have loved every single moment with her and look forward to all of the different stages ahead of us! At 1 year Lo-
-crawls around really well
-pulls up on her knees
-loves to say mama, dada, uh oh and baba (for my sister Bab and also for bye bye)
-loves music and dancing
-is starting to wean herself off of milk. She gets regular 2% milk but doesn't seem to care for milk that much. We just supplement with yogurt and cheese.
-has curly blonde hair that is getting longer and thicker by the minute.
-loves making new and different noises with her mouth/tongue.
-wipes her nose by herself
-does some hand movements to familiar songs like the itsy bitsy spider, popcorn popping, twinkle twinkle little star
-loves to read
-loves to eat anything and everything but she is not find of super soft foods. She isn't a fan of applesauce and yogurt type stuff unless she has something that she can crunch along with it. I'd say her favorites are bananas, cheese, peas, and grilled chicken.
-loves water. She doesn't care about having juice at all. I give it to her when I'm trying to help regulate her but she is a water loving girl.

Lo's 1st Birthday

Punky pie, on your first birthday you had to go to the doctor. It was terrible! You had to have blood work done to check for lead poisoning, they pricked your heel and squeezed the day lights out of your tiny little foot to get enough blood for the lab. It was horrible and the closest to crying I have been with these types of things. Then you got 2 shots, the chicken pox vaccine and MMR vaccine...you pretty much hated the world at that point.

When we left the doctor I thought you would fall asleep in the car but you were too mad. I called your Gramma to see if she wanted to come with us for a few errands I needed to run by her house and figured she would like to see you. I realized you were asleep as soon as I got off the phone, but it was too late! You slept in the car with Gramma while I ran in and out of stores. Then we took you to lunch.

Shirley came over once we got home and brought you a bunny that sings Jesus Loves Me and a card. You got a birthday delivery from Grandpa S- clothes and toys that he mailed from Ohio.

When Daddy came home we worked on getting our house in order for your party. But the highlight of your day is when we gave you a cupcake I demolish all by yourself. You did a really good job with that and got mad when we put you in the tub. You were still trying to eat icing out of your little hands before they got wet in the bath! I sure do love you.

-At a sick visit recently weighed in at 22 lbs. 12 oz.
-Wears mostly 18 month clothes and size 3 diapers.
-Loves anyone and everyone, especially kids.
-Is starting to show a little bit of interest in some of the educational cartoons, mostly loves the music.
-Enjoys reading and singing time in her nursery in the late afternoons...she tends to get bored around 3:00 each day.
-Got her mother's bad allergies. Gets sinus congestion with the weather changes.
-Saw and touched snow for the first time this month.
We just love our little Lo to pieces!

Daddy's Little Model

She's 10 months!  Oh, how can this be?!  Time is flying by so quickly and we are enjoying every single second with this pretty girl.  She's got 3 teeth, 2 on the bottom and one on the top, and working on the other top front tooth.  She is starting to mobilize a little.  Still no crawling but she somehow manages to move through a series of stretching.  She still loves to eat any and every thing.  She is still just using a sippy cup, no more bottles for this girl. She loves meeting new people, being outside, laughing, reading and baths. Her favorite toys right now are her purse with lipstick and compact, disney princess little people, and anything with a tag. She loves anything that crinkles including her crinkly elephant that her Daddy got her for Christmas that they named "Captain Crinkles".  She is such a good sleeper.  She typically sleeps from about 7pm,wakes between 6:30 to 7am for a bottle and then sleeps a little more until about 9 or 9:30...we are so lucky!  She had a bout with the croup but other than that is very healthy.  We just love our little Lo!

Daddy's Little Model

**Blogger says I've exceeded my 1GB limit for pictures and I'm not sure what I'm going to do yet. Until then, I will continue to update sans pictures.

Our sweet little lady is now 8 months old! She is the cutest girl I've ever seen!

At 8 months Lo:
*Scoots backwards when on her belly. She sill does the swimming motion when she gets excited for a toy but has yet to figure out the forward crawl...and we don't mind one little bit!

*Babbles- still mostly "dada" and "baba" sometimes she throws in "T" sounds or "papa" or "gaga". It varies.

*Sleeps like a champ but insists on it being in her crib or pack n play. She isn't a fan of sleeping on people or on random beds or in her carseat. She goes down around 7:00 and wakes around 6:30 or 7:00 for a bottle and then sleeps until 9 or 10:00.

*Loves to eat and thinks that she is supposed to eat anytime she sees anyone with food. We give her anything we have within reason but her aunts/uncles/cousins/grandparents like to sneak her sweets and candy. She isn't picky either- she'll eat it all!

*Other random things- still loves new faces, has the spunkiest little laugh/squeal, favorite toys are still her bird toy and the teacup and petite fours from her tea set, is ticklish on the back of her neck, adores her cousins, is completely enthralled with her Daddy and her Mimi, refuses to wear shoes...still, sits up all by herself and can even maneuver over on her side/back/stomach from the sitting position if something is striking her fancy, loves to crinkle paper/plastic...definitely her favorite.

Daddy's Little Model

Time is flying by and it is making me so sad.  Lo is 7 months old and it's just going too fast.  Someone please make time stop for a little while!  Here are a few shots to commemorate the occasion-

She was weighed the first week of October at exactly 20 pounds. She is a very good eater- she'll eat anything and anytime.  She is making "Ba" sounds and occasionally makes "wa, da and ma" sounds too.  She has perfected the "pootie" noise.  She is really attached to her binky and can put it in and take it out all by herself.  She has mastered the sippy cup.  She isn't interested in mobility at all. She is wearing mostly 12 month clothes.  If it's anything fitted like a dress she really needs an 18 month to accommodate her broad upper body.  I am so excited for her that she is broad up top...it will make her life so much easier!  (says her narrow shouldered Mama) She is a constant ball of motion, always on the move. From wiggling her toes, rolling her ankles and kicking her legs...it's go, go, go!  I am pretty glad that she's not actually crawling yet!  She loves to be tickled and full on belly laughs when her Daddy does it.  She expects it every night before bedtime.  She has the girliest little giggle.  She entertains herself pretty well- still loves her jumperoo and her bumbo. Her favorite toys are her Sophie the giraffe teether, her teapot from her tea set and her bird toy.

I guess that hits the high points.  We just can't get enough of our
little Punky girl!

6 Month Photo Shoot

We had Lo's 6 month photo shoot with the fabulous H. Alexandra Photography last week.  Heather never ceases to amaze me with her work.  She got beautiful shots of my tired, hungry, teething 6 month old...how?!  She's a miracle worker/baby whisperer!  As always, she came to the location of our choice.  This particular shoot was done at my parents home.  She comes up with the most fabulous ideas for each shoot. I really can't say enough about her.  I'll let the gorgeous pictures of our girl do the talking for me-

Check her out at H. Alexandra Photography

6 Month Check Up

Lo had her 6 month check up at the doctor and here are her current stats:
Height-26.5 inches(73.3%)
Weight-18 pounds 9 ounces (90%)
Head Circumference-42.5(57.2%)

She is perfectly healthy and happy.  Poor girl got 3 vaccines and one by mouth so she slept a lot after her appointment. At 6 months she- rolls from her back to her stomach, has one tooth (bottom left) that has broken through, laughs and giggles, babbles up a storm, loves any and all strangers. Favorite activities include-going on walk/runs with Mama, playing in her exersaucer, any time spent with her Daddy, reading books, splashing in the tub, chewing on anything and watching clips of Curious George. Least favorite activities- being on her tummy.
