10 Years

The Hubs and I have been married for a decade! With an unexpected move, our plans for a big anniversary trip went out the window. However, the night before our anniversary we both decided that we needed a night away...nothing lavish, just a quick overnight with just us. We left Lo in good hands with my parents and whisked ourselves away to Savannah, Georgia. I think the last time we were there was probably 5 years ago when we went for the 4th of July and it was hot and crazy. It was nice to go when the weather was nice and there weren't tons of tourists hanging around.
The first day we walked around the city market area, which is an artsy district. We had dinner at a local tapas joint and it was one of the best meals of my entire life. Then we found our hotel and turned in for the night. The following day we went down to River Street for breakfast at my favorite, Huey's and for some shopping. We always have to stop in at River Street Sweets...this time it was to get the sitters some goodies. Later that afternoon we headed to Tybee Island to look around and do the whole lighthouse thing. We rounded out he trip with a late lunch at the Crab Shack and headed back home. It was really nice to spend some quality time with my man to honor the day that we got married, 10 years ago. It really is so crazy how quickly time passes by. Considering we dated for 4 years prior to marriage that's a lot of time together.
I'm proud of what we have created. It hasn't been an easy road (no relationship is) but there have been more highs than lows and I am so grateful to share a life with my honey. Happy Anniversary Baby!

Lo at 18 Months

We had our 18 month well visit and here are Lo's latest stats-

Height: 32.2 inches (62.2%)
Weight: 24.9 pounds (77%)
Head circumference: 47 cm. (69.5%)

So, she's perfectly healthy and right on track with her other milestones. She is a bundle of energy and  keeps us laughing. She seems to be dominate with the left hand as of right now, is running, twirling and jumping, says all kinds of words (topping the funny list this month was "dang" "huh?" "What?" And "boss" when the kids told her to say "like a boss").

She still loves dancing and the great outdoors. She loves animals and loves water. Her current favorite foods are still avocado and cheese but also fruit snacks and pirates booty which she calls "booty". She finally mastered drinking out of a straw! She also said "angel Moroni" when we took her to see the temple lit up at night (completely unprompted by the way...don't ask me how she knew) and this week she has carried around her nursery handout that says "heavenly father and Jesus love me" and has sung "Jesus" over and over again (completely unprompted). Out of the mouth of babes?

Lo's First {Unofficial} Day Of Nursery

In the LDS church, babies remain with their parents during all 3 blocks of church until they are 18 months old. As many of you can imagine, and/or have experienced- there isn't a whole lot of meeting attendance when you have a little one under 18 months. We do a lot of hanging out in the mothers lounge/hallway and foyers. The parents of these tots have dubbed the foyers the "pre-nursery class".

Moving on- the nursery leaders approached me last week and told me it was time to start transitioning Lo into nursery as she will be 18 months on the 30th. I figured she would do fine since she does the gym nursery well, but ya never know with toddlers! Despite being very sleepy I think she did quite well. She is obviously not on the same level as the 2 other kids that are in there with her, they are 3 years old and about to transition to the regular kids program, but she held her own. We are so excited for her and know that she will enjoy being with her adorable nursery leaders and new friends. Yay for nursery!

Lo's first coloring page from nursery. We have it proudly displayed on our refrigerator.

We Have A Walker

On July 29th our little Lo walked for the first time. She had taken a step here and there but never more than one until this day...and of course, Robert was on a business trip! Luckily, we were staying at Mimi and Pappy's house so Mimi captured it on her phone. She certainly took her sweet time getting to this point, she's 16 months old! We knew she was plenty strong but she had to decide to take the plunge. She loves practicing anywhere we go!

Lo's First Birthday

It seems like just yesterday that we were leaving for the hospital on the first day of spring.  Just a few short hours later Lo was delivered via a scheduled c-section and she was the most beautiful baby I had ever laid eyes on.  She has changed our world completely and we wouldn't have it any other way.  On her actual birthday we let her have a cupcake and then she opened presents from us and her Grandpa S.

Our 1 Year Old

I can't believe our first year with our girl flew by so fast. We have loved every single moment with her and look forward to all of the different stages ahead of us! At 1 year Lo-
-crawls around really well
-pulls up on her knees
-loves to say mama, dada, uh oh and baba (for my sister Bab and also for bye bye)
-loves music and dancing
-is starting to wean herself off of milk. She gets regular 2% milk but doesn't seem to care for milk that much. We just supplement with yogurt and cheese.
-has curly blonde hair that is getting longer and thicker by the minute.
-loves making new and different noises with her mouth/tongue.
-wipes her nose by herself
-does some hand movements to familiar songs like the itsy bitsy spider, popcorn popping, twinkle twinkle little star
-loves to read
-loves to eat anything and everything but she is not find of super soft foods. She isn't a fan of applesauce and yogurt type stuff unless she has something that she can crunch along with it. I'd say her favorites are bananas, cheese, peas, and grilled chicken.
-loves water. She doesn't care about having juice at all. I give it to her when I'm trying to help regulate her but she is a water loving girl.

Lo's 1st Birthday

Punky pie, on your first birthday you had to go to the doctor. It was terrible! You had to have blood work done to check for lead poisoning, they pricked your heel and squeezed the day lights out of your tiny little foot to get enough blood for the lab. It was horrible and the closest to crying I have been with these types of things. Then you got 2 shots, the chicken pox vaccine and MMR vaccine...you pretty much hated the world at that point.

When we left the doctor I thought you would fall asleep in the car but you were too mad. I called your Gramma to see if she wanted to come with us for a few errands I needed to run by her house and figured she would like to see you. I realized you were asleep as soon as I got off the phone, but it was too late! You slept in the car with Gramma while I ran in and out of stores. Then we took you to lunch.

Shirley came over once we got home and brought you a bunny that sings Jesus Loves Me and a card. You got a birthday delivery from Grandpa S- clothes and toys that he mailed from Ohio.

When Daddy came home we worked on getting our house in order for your party. But the highlight of your day is when we gave you a cupcake I demolish all by yourself. You did a really good job with that and got mad when we put you in the tub. You were still trying to eat icing out of your little hands before they got wet in the bath! I sure do love you.

Daddy's Little Model

She's 10 months!  Oh, how can this be?!  Time is flying by so quickly and we are enjoying every single second with this pretty girl.  She's got 3 teeth, 2 on the bottom and one on the top, and working on the other top front tooth.  She is starting to mobilize a little.  Still no crawling but she somehow manages to move through a series of stretching.  She still loves to eat any and every thing.  She is still just using a sippy cup, no more bottles for this girl. She loves meeting new people, being outside, laughing, reading and baths. Her favorite toys right now are her purse with lipstick and compact, disney princess little people, and anything with a tag. She loves anything that crinkles including her crinkly elephant that her Daddy got her for Christmas that they named "Captain Crinkles".  She is such a good sleeper.  She typically sleeps from about 7pm,wakes between 6:30 to 7am for a bottle and then sleeps a little more until about 9 or 9:30...we are so lucky!  She had a bout with the croup but other than that is very healthy.  We just love our little Lo!

Rub-A-Dub-Dub

Little Lo had her first bath on March  30th.  Lucky for us, her belly button healed super fast so we were able to bathe her pretty early on.  She really likes having a nice warm bath.  She doesn't like being cold after the bath!
Enjoying her first shampoo.

We keep her nice and warm by leaving a warm washcloth on her lap.

Getting dried off.

Daddy keeping her good and snuggled while drying off.

On Thursday

We went to the Capital City to pick up Hubby's new glasses and contacts.  He hasn't worn glasses since right after we got married (about 7 years) so it was a fun change.

He was really happy with his new look but thought something seemed a little off.
We went to my favorite little deli and got some greek turkey...oh how I love TOS.  While there he realized he had the wrong prescription so we headed back to the doctor's office to drop them back off.  And now we wait for the special order lens to come in.  We headed to my sister, Babs, house.
We witnessed Munchie learn to ride a bike without training wheels, thanks to her Papa.
She was very proud of herself, and so were we!
Gigi cruised around while Munchie practiced and...
Uncly Hubby tried to give E a pep talk before trying to teach him how to ride a bike without training wheels.  We thought that we would get through to him better than his parents, how foolish are we?!?  We ran up and down the road while steadying him on his bike with no success.  His Papa did get him on his own for a little while but he'll need a little more practice.  Hubby says that E is too smart for his own good he kept telling Hubby "the gravity is pulling me down" and "why do I have to learn to ride a bike?"...it's just part of conquering childhood buddy.  Better luck next time!

We were going to spend the night so we went to dinner with my Dad and brother, Bubs.  We got back to my parents and I said, "Why are we spending the night?".  So, we got up and left.  Thank goodness we did because we got home to a leaking skylight.
