Going Ons

Life lately has been mostly appointments (OB, chiropractic, etc.) for me and work for the Hubs.  In between those things, this is what we've been doing-
Making this house feel more like home.  It's amazing what a little tweaking here and there will do.  And, my ponytail palm that I purchased weeks ago and have yet to transplant into it's pot.
Giving myself a pedicure, I'm not sure why this felt like such a success for me...but it did.  I guess after years of giving ladies their pre-labor pedis because they couldn't reach their own feet, it felt like a triumph.  For the record, Hubby offered to do it himself but I'm a bit of a perfectionist.
Tweaking some rooms has left the guest bedroom in shambles.  It is the place for all rejects at this point.  My sis was taking a large piece of furniture from us to use in her boys room but couldn't fit it in her vehicle.  This is the explosion of stuff that came from that.  Then, don't miss the bed frame that is up for grabs...need one?  And, the bin of Christmas stuff that has been forgotten more times than I would like to admit.
A friend of mine that was due around the same time as me had her baby last week which lit a fire under me for packing the hospital bag.  Said fire has since been extinguished because I didn't make it very far on my list of things to pack!  But, while taking this picture I realized that the strap on this old duffel bag looks like it's about to rip off so we'll need to do a little switcheroo.
Completed this bulletin board for the nursery.  The frame was a matte brass color and used to house a mirror that has long been broken.  I spray painted this guy in a high gloss gray and hubs upholstered the board in some leftover fabric from the babies bedding.  This will be a prime place for all of the little drawings and cards that I anticipate from Lo's 4 girl cousins.
Getting packages delivered, all for baby...of course!  We got her first hot rod the other day from Lo's favorite great Aunt and Uncle.  Hubby loves this thing, but that should go without saying.
Hubby told me last night that I am a baby vessel, I guess that's pretty accurate to say these days.  This baby is growing like a weed and my ribs don't appreciate it!
Enjoying Nana's camellias, and so are the bees.
Putting together baby paraphernalia.  Our house really does look like a Babies R Us for the time being.

We are looking forward to a church social tonight, a laid back Saturday complete with a double date in the evening and a Sunday of churching and resting.

Lo's Nursery Reveal

Well, here it is.  The projects have been completed and we are feeling ready to bring our baby girl home.  We still have a while to go though!

First off we have the rocking chair corner.  The rocker was the first baby gift we received, compliments of the Hubby's parentals.  The ottoman is something that my father-in-law made for us soon after we were married.  It was honey colored and covered in burgundy fabric so we gave it a face lift with matte black paint and new fabric.  The side table was made by Mr. D.  It holds itself together with no glue or screws, it's pretty dang cool.

The bedding was made by my Mom.  She is obviously extremely talented.  I have yet to put on the crib skirt, but we have one!
Revisiting the rocking chair corner- I kept seeing these "gutter shelves" on Pinterest and fell in love.  The Hubs made these in a flash.  I love the flexibility of being able to switch up what is on display.  He loved that the stuff won't be a falling hazard for the baby, it's a win-win situation.  And, don't miss the little shelf that is at baby girl's reach for her board books or toys.
The changing table was purchased with a bed and side table from a friend over a year ago.  We thought we would paint the whole thing some funky color but then we saw the idea of just painting the top on a couple of home decor blogs and loved the look.  I initially thought that I would change out the hardware but I just love how it looks.  Hubby used auto body paint for the white so it should hold up fairly well.  The changing pad cover, by my Mom again.  The large painting was done by me, Hubby has named it "The Gay Zebra".  The basket on the top was something my sis insisted I have for diapers and wipes.  And, to the left is the closet.  I nixed the bi-fold door and did curtains on a rod instead, so much easier!
The crib- it's navy, it photographs black...we love the clean lines.
The collage of round mirrors add pizazz without adding too much color.  I didn't want anything competing with the fabulous crib bedding.
Last but not least- a pink chandelier.  No little girls room is complete without one!

The Big Move

Well, we got all moved in but boy was it a crazy few days!  I don't suggest moving the week of Christmas and I also would advise against moving while pregnant, the hormones were a little out of control.  After the movers packed and loaded all of our belongings we were left in an empty house.  Bab and her fabulous friend came and helped clean the house.  The only problem?  The movers took all of my cleaning supplies and vacuum.  We decided to go get some mexican food before we got started!  So with what supplies Bab brought and our shop vac that we planned on trashing we cleaned the house.  It wasn't bad but it was raining the whole day of the move so the floors were kind of yucky.  Just as we were finishing up the house in the sunroom my beloved potted plant fell over leaving a huge potting soil mess, that didn't make us too terribly happy.

It was getting late and Hubby still had a half day of work ahead of him the next day and I had to wake at the crack of dawn to get to the new place to let the movers in.  We left our beloved home but not without some tears shed like to babbling idiots in the driveway.  We spent the night at our dear friend Shell's house.  She and her new beau provided some much needed comic relief.  They were very understanding of my still blood shot eyes and my pregnancy hormones.

Thursday morning Hubs and I left Shell's home- he went to work and I came to the new place.  Since the home kind of smelled like a dog to me the week before the carpets were cleaned, deodorized and given an enzyme treatment.  The only catch?  The electric wasn't turned on until late Wednesday night so the carpet cleaner had to come Thursday morning.  There was an overlap where he was still cleaning carpets and the movers were trying to bring in our stuff.  The movers probably hated me that morning but there was going to be no dog smell in our home!  After they unloaded us Dad and Munchie (who came to help me) and myself started trying to organize the chaos.  Hubby was at the new place by 1:30 and he was followed by Mom...with all of us we divided and conquered.

Around 3:30 Friday morning I woke up to pee and noticed that I was standing on a wet floor...plumbing leak!  Later that day Hubby went out to the storage room where the water heater is to grab some tools that we put in there and he was standing in water too...good times!  After some do it yourself work gone wrong a plumber was called in and all was fixed within an hour.  Friday brought a whole lot of organizing and cleaning and Jas and Lou for a visit to see the place

It has now been almost a week and we finally got the last boxes unpacked today.  Old lady curtains have been removed , old ceiling fans have been taken down and donated...we are trying to put our own stamp on this place.  We'll get there!

A Walk In The Park

The Hubs had a long weekend off of work so we took advantage of the extra down time and explored our beloved Horse Country.  We took a leisurely stroll through the park, ate lunch at our favorite deli downtown and went antiquing.  Did you know that Horse Country has some of the best antique stores around?  Here are some gems that Hubby took at the park-

And my find of the day from a hidden little antique store...this fabulous lamp.  Of course I replaced the cruddy old shade with this new textured one from Target but I am obsessed!  The shop I got it from was about to get in a huge estate of danish modern furniture.  I had to get out quick! 3 storage units full of danish modern sounds like heaven to me.

Design Inspirations

love the colors in this painting

I love the color combination in this room.  I actually took this picture for a friend that loves the beachy motif and laugh now because I just painted our living room a similar shade.

My Aunt and Uncle had a sunburst mirror when I was little and I loved it.  Now they're super trendy and I still want one for myself.

Can't wait until our kitchen makeover is done!  Our countertop should be in in a week or so.  Love the radius of the counter and the bold print on the chairs.

I love the idea of built-in seating.  I love how casual and cozy this eating area feels.

What can I say?  I have a thing for mirrors!  I would love to replicate this look in our home.

Be still my soul!  I am obsessed with the Lucite table and chrome back chairs.

Love the light fixture in this room and the pops of color.

I love the eclectic feel of this room and love the painting.

Color coordinated bookshelves...need I say more?

I like the traditional pattern mixed with a more modern color palette.  I almost bought this fabric and then realized I couldn't think of a place to put it.  I may or may not regret that choice!

I think this fabric would be great for an upholstered headboard which is on my list of things to do.

This fabric would look so great in our sunroom.

What don't I love in this picture?  I want to do an upholstered panel like this in our dining area to help with acoustics.  Love the yellow, gray and teal.  Love the cute little owl.
